Long-time residents might recall being neighbors with Ramblin Rod Anders and his Apple Valley Airport right off U.S. 26. Of course “downtown” Buxton is on Fisher Road, where there used to be a post office, and where there is still a general store that most people do not see as they zip along Oregon 47 to Vernonia and Clatskanie or the Sunset Highway back to Hillsboro or Portland (or to Manning for some Dairy Queen). The community also has a trailhead for the Banks-Vernonia State Trail.​
