Scappoose
The county’s second biggest city is home to the what was once named as the world’s largest candle, the Peace Candle of the World. Scappoose, which is sort of fun to pronounce, is the last city in the county on the way to Portland. The community has a bit of a rivalry with neighboring St. Helens. It is also somewhat convenient to the Tualatin Valley via the dangerous Cornelius Pass Road, connecting to West Union/Rock Creek and Hillsboro. It is also the hometown of Oregon State Beaver great and NFL quarterback Derek Anderson.
